Following these teachings, what began as a humble start-up has now grown into a thriving, multi-million dollar company, selling products in more than 10,000 stores across the United States and Canada. In Fully Alive, Tyler Gage shares his spiritual adventures and the business savvy that helped him create RUNA, a tea and energy drink company that collaborates with the indigenous people of Ecuador to harvest the "master plant" guayusa, revealing a centuries-old guiding philosophy for building a sacred way of living that he discovered through Amazonian shamanism. Summary "In the spirit of Adam Braun's The Promise of a Pencil and Blake Mycoskie's Start Something That Matters, Fully Alive tells the story of an astoundingly successful young entrepreneur's immersion in Amazonian indigenous spirituality and how he integrated the lessons he learned to build a successful, socially responsible company, live a purposeful life, and make a difference in the world. Sidibe's memoir hits hard with self-knowing dispatches on friendship, depression, celebrity, haters, fashion, race, and weight ("If I could just get the world to see me the way I see myself," she writes, "would my body still be a thing you walked away thinking about?"). Sidibe tells the engrossing, inspiring story of her first job as a phone sex "talker." And she shares her unconventional (of course!) rise to fame as a movie star, alongside "a superstar cast of rich people who lived in mansions and had their own private islands and amazing careers while I lived in my mom's apartment." In This is Just My Face, she shares a one-of-a-kind life story in a voice as fresh and challenging as many of the unique characters she's played onscreen. With full-throttle honesty, Sidibe paints her Bed-Stuy/Harlem family life with a polygamous father and a gifted mother who supports her two children by singing in the subway. Gabourey Sidibe-"Gabby" to her legion of fans-skyrocketed to international fame in 2009 when she played the leading role in Lee Daniels's acclaimed movie Precious. Rollins investigates these ideas that go beyond our minds' boundaries, and uses them to craft near-fantasy thrillers. Just think about some of the completely unbelievable discoveries of quantum physics - the "cloud" of probability, Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle, quantum entanglement, the puzzling dual nature of light - they all surpass our understanding - toppling Newtonian physics to its foundations - yet still stand up to mathematical rigor. I think that, when we close our minds to wild possibilities - believing that we already know how the world works - then we also close ourselves from understanding and joy. and Rollins has the intelligence to research thoroughly and conjecture (just barely) plausibly. However, if you listen without judging, you will see that Rollins has done his research before commencing his wild conjecturing. This third Rollins thriller pushes credibility to the limit, same as its predecessors do. because it just might justify your spending a credit. Now, if you still have some curiosity about "Deep Fathom," read on. If you are looking for realistic believability, then you should skip James Rollins: He will □□□□□□ stretch your suspension-of-disbelief capacity to its breaking point. If you are looking for lyrical, beautiful writing, then you should skip James Rollins: He is no James Lee Burke or Cormac McCarthy. Rollins Just Beginning to Hit His Stride. The exploration of the land’s religion and people’s conflicting understandings of it seems to be a reflection of the real world, lending the story a deeper commentary without sidelining the main plot. “omance, danger, and magic make for a winning combination that will keep readers glued to the pages long after bedtime.” – School Library Journal "A multifaceted scheme, mistaken identity, and a simmering romance will keep readers riveted and dying to know how it all unfolds. |
